  • Travel Terms for Jeepa Travel Sikkim

Thank you for choosing Jeepa Travel Sikkim. These terms outline the expectations and guidelines for all travellers during their journey. By participating in our tours or treks, you consent to obey these rules to ensure a safe experience for everyone.

1. Personal Identification

Sikkim is a border state with strict security protocols. Every traveler must carry original government-issued identity cards at all times. This is necessary for verifying permits at various checkpoints. If you fail to carry your original ID, local authorities may prevent you from entering certain areas. Jeepa Travel Sikkim is not responsible for any part of the tour missed due to missing identification.

2. Health and Physical Fitness

Our journeys often involve travel to extreme high-altitude regions such as North Sikkim, or demanding treks like Goechala and Dzongri. These areas have very thin air, unpredictable weather, and freezing temperatures.

  • Trekking Requirements: Treks like Goechala and Dzongri are physically exhausting. They require a high level of cardiovascular fitness and endurance. It is your responsibility to train and prepare for these conditions.
  • Medical Fitness: You must ensure you are medically fit for high-altitude activities. If you have a history of heart, lung, or respiratory conditions, you must consult your doctor before booking.
  • Monitoring Health: You must inform your guide or driver immediately if you experience any symptoms of altitude sickness, for instance, headaches, nausea, or dizziness.
  • Right to Terminate: We reserve the right to stop any traveller from continuing a trek or tour if our staff believes their physical condition puts their health or the safety of the group at risk.

3. Assumption of Risk and Liability Waiver

By booking with Jeepa Travel Sikkim, you acknowledge that mountain travel and high-altitude trekking involve inherent dangers. These risks include, but are not limited to, altitude sickness, extreme weather, landslides, and physical injury.

Jeepa Travel Sikkim, its owners, and staff are not liable for any personal injury, illness, permanent disability, or accidental death that may occur during the tour or trek. You participate in these activities at your own risk. By agreeing to these terms, you waive the right to hold the agent responsible for any physical harm or loss of life resulting from the natural hazards of the Himalayan terrain or the physical demands of the itinerary.

4. Personal Conduct and Local Laws

We expect all our guests to respect the local culture, traditions, and laws of Sikkim.

  • Please follow the rules of the local community, especially when visiting monasteries or sacred lakes.
  • Smoking and drinking alcohol are strictly restricted in many public and sacred areas.
  • Any illegal activity, including the possession of prohibited substances, will result in the direct termination of your tour without a refund.
  • We expect respectful behaviour toward our drivers, guides, and hotel staff.

5. Luggage and Personal Belongings

You are responsible for the safety of your own luggage and personal items throughout the trip. While our team will assist with loading and unloading, Jeepa Travel Sikkim is not accountable for loss, theft, or damage to any individual’s property. We recommend that you do not carry expensive jewellery or large amounts of cash during your mountain excursions.

6. Travel Insurance

Jeepa Travel Sikkim does not provide personal insurance coverage. Because of the risks involved in high-altitude trekking, we strongly mandate that all travelers purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy. Your policy must cover medical emergencies, emergency mountain evacuation, accidental injuries, and trip interruptions.

7. Environmental Responsibility

Sikkim is a “Green State” and takes environmental protection seriously. We practice a “no-littering” policy. Please do not throw plastic bottles, wrappers, or any waste on mountain trails or out of vehicle windows. Use the dustbins provided in the vehicles or at your campsites.

8. Photography and Drones

While photography is encouraged, some areas in Sikkim are strategically sensitive. Photography is prohibited near army camps or specific border points. Additionally, the use of drones requires special government permission. Please check with your guide before flying a drone or taking photos in restricted zones.

9. Dispute Resolution

Any disagreements or legal issues related to your travel will be overseen by the laws of India. All debates will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Gangtok, East Sikkim.
