Your Dzongri Trek journey begins with a long but scenic drive to Yuksom, the historic trailhead of West Sikkim. The route winds through Himalayan foothills, river valleys, and quiet mountain roads before reaching this peaceful trekking base. On arrival, check in, rest, complete local formalities, and prepare for the trek ahead.

The trek starts from Yuksom and gradually enters the forested trail system of Khangchendzonga National Park. The walk to Sachen is a pleasant opening day with shaded paths, wooden bridges, river sounds, and a steady climb that helps your body begin acclimatising to the altitude. Overnight stay at camp.

Today’s route becomes steeper and more dramatic. After crossing bridges and climbing through dense forest, you reach Bakhim and continue upward to Tsokha, a beautiful highland stop with trekkers’ huts, monastery charm, and the first striking mountain views of the journey. This is one of the most scenic forest days of the Dzongri Trek.

The trail climbs above the tree line through rhododendron country, passing Phedang and then continuing toward the higher ridges. As the forest thins, the landscape opens into alpine ground and wider mountain views. By the time you arrive at Dzongri, the air feels sharper, the scenery becomes more dramatic, and the trek fully reveals its Himalayan character. Overnight at camp or trekker hut.

Wake before dawn for the short but unforgettable climb to Dzongri Top. This is the signature moment of the Dzongri Trek, when the first light touches Kanchenjunga and the surrounding peaks in a sweeping 360-degree panorama. After breakfast, begin the descent back to Tsokha through the same high forest and ridge section. Overnight stay at Tsokha.

Retrace the trail through Bakhim, forest bridges, and deep green valleys as you descend toward Yuksom. The return walk feels easier on the lungs but remains rich in scenery, especially through the mossy forests and river sections that make this route so memorable. On arrival, check in and relax after completing the trekking section.

After breakfast, drive back from Yuksom to NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport with the memories of one of Sikkim’s finest short treks. This marks the end of your Dzongri Trek package.
